Princess Mary 1914 Christmas Tin

In 1914 during WW 1 Princess Mary (daughter of King George V and Queen Mary) organised a public appeal to fundraise for a Christmas Gift to be distributed to all British, Colonial and Indian armed forces.

The Gift came in the form of Brass lidded Tin with a pressed lid featuring an image of the Princess. The tin generally contained such items as - a Christmas or New Year’s card, a photo of Princess Mary, tobacco, cigarettes, confectionary, chocolate, a pipe and a pencil.

Circa - 1914

Dimensions 130mm x 85mm x 25mm

Condition : an original & good example - some dents on the hinge edge, surface corrosion and dents on the base
