Joseph Banks Journal provides an indispensable insight and record of the 1768 - 1771 voyage of the HMS Endeavour under her Captain James Cook. Banks’s Journal vividly describes the places the ship visited on that voyage in a full and candid way, at times it is exciting and dramatic. Amongst some of the places the Endeavour visited on that voyage were Brazil, Tierra del Fuego, Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia, the East Indies.

Hardbacks bound in original maroon cloth with title lettering in gilt on spines. Both with dustjackets.

Volume 1 - 495 pages, including 19 pages of B/W Sketches, mainly by Banks botanical draughtsman - Sydney Parkinson, 9 pages of colour illustrations, 6 text illustrations, 5 map sketches. Volume 2 - 426 pages, including 20 pages of B/W sketches, 5 colour plates, 4 sketch maps including one fold-out map showing the route of the Endeavour around the World.

‍ Condition - Both hardcover volumes - Fine / Excellent.
